It really feels like you haven't read the whole article. Apple takes 15-30% of all in-app purchases, not just the app sale itself. So if Libro.fm or another indie audiobook retailer sells you one of my audiobooks using an app, they pay Apple a 30% transaction charge. Apple, meanwhile, does not pay this when *it* sells you the same audiobook through its own store, and it cut a sweetheart deal with Audible, Amazon's audiobook monopoly platform (with 90%+ of the audiobook market).
The retail discount for audiobooks is 20%. That means that only Apple/Audible can sell you an audiobook in-app and turn a profit - everyone else loses 10% on every sale.
This is ridiculous.
